The cask purchased by Toranomon Corporation from the ONTAKE Distillery has matured beautifully over three years into an exceptional whisky.
Cask Strength: Well-balanced, with a rich sherry-cask character. Adding water enhances the sweetness and brings out a smoother texture.
Tasting Notes: Aromas of caramel, vanilla, honey, sherry cask, and milk chocolate.
Flavor: On the palate, notes of raisins, a hint of apricot and nuts, with subtle violet floral tones. A slight spiciness lingers, followed by a pleasantly bitter finish.

Overlooking Sakurajima (Ontake), which rises from Kinko Bay, the Ontake Distillery crafts whisky in a land blessed with crystal-clear air and an abundance of natural soft water that has been filtered and refined over countless years. Even in the warm season, the cool climate makes it ideal for maturation. Here, whisky making is pursued with passion and precision.
Using in-house cultivated yeast, carefully selected two-row barley, and handpicked sherry casks, the distillery is dedicated to producing authentic whisky.

Q. Is it possible to affix a custom-designed label to the bottles?
A. Yes. This is possible; however, specifications and requirements may vary depending on the label supplier.
Q. How many bottle designs are available?
A. Depending on the supplier, several dozen to several hundred bottle designs are available for selection.
Q. Can multiple casks be vatted together?
A. No. This program is strictly limited to single cask bottlings.
Q. May multiple individuals jointly apply for one cask?
A. The minimum order quantity is approximately 600 bottles per cask. Ownership rights to each cask must be held under a single name (individual or corporate entity). While joint funding among private parties is permissible, such arrangements must be managed independently by the parties involved.
Q. Must the entire contents of the cask be bottled?
A. Yes. The entire contents of the cask will be bottled. Neither the volume nor the total number of bottles may be specified by the purchaser.
Q. What is the lead time from order to delivery of the bottles?
A. The standard lead time is approximately three months. Please note that this may vary by season, and delays may occur due to shipping conditions or weather.
Q. What are the delivery terms?
A. Delivery shall be made on an Ex Works (EXW) basis from the bottling facility.
Q. At what age will the whisky be bottled?
A. Bottling will take place between three and five years from the cask filling date (April 1, 2021).
Q. May the cask be retained for extended maturation?
A. Yes. Extended maturation is possible, subject to additional storage and maturation fees.
Q. Is it possible to newly acquire a cask directly from the distillery?
A. Yes. Acquisition is possible with on-site support provided by our company.
Please note: During maturation, natural evaporation (“the angel’s share”) will reduce the total volume of whisky contained in the cask.
